Dapper Cigars may not have decades of history behind them, but they’ve built their name quickly by putting out blends that are bold, complex, and well-crafted. Ian Reith and his team clearly focus on quality, and it shows in both the construction and the flavor of Dapper Cigars. Anytime I light up a Dapper cigar, I expect personality and punch—and the La Madrina does not disappoint.
The cigar makes a strong first impression with its dark wrapper and solid feel in the hand. The cold draw gave me notes of earth, pepper, and just a touch of sweetness.
Right from the first light, this cigar comes on strong. Pepper and espresso dominate the opening, with an earthy backdrop. The retro hale packs a spicy kick that grabs your attention without being overwhelming. As it settles in, some cocoa notes start to smooth things out, adding balance to the profile.

The second third is where the La Madrina really shines. The flavors round out with chocolate, oak, and a bit of molasses sweetness. The pepper is still there, but it takes on a more refined edge. Construction is excellent—razor-sharp burn line, firm ash, and thick, creamy smoke output that doesn’t let up.
In the final third, the strength builds back up. Espresso and earth move to the front, while the pepper kicks up again for a bold finish. Every now and then, a hint of dried fruit sweetness sneaks in, adding a nice little twist before the cigar closes out.

Overall, the Dapper La Madrina Toro is a full-bodied cigar with complexity and balance. It’s rich, flavorful, and consistent from start to finish, keeping things interesting the whole way through. The Dapper La Madrina has been weighed and judged and has earned a strong score of 93.
